The Lay-Off
Well on a better note; I'll enjoy my time off and spend it with the family. Keanul is involved with alot so far this summer. He has weight training, speed camp, baseball, and he's working on the weekends. I can't believe he's going to be a freshman in high school this fall. Rozalynn is taking it a bit easy this summer. She went on vacation with Rick's parents. She left on Friday and will be back tomorrow. I miss her. Rick and I drove up to Lodi on Sunday to visit for the afternoon. That is where they rented a house for the week. It's a beautiful house on Lake Wisconsin. With a great view of the lake.
Well I think I'm going to close for tonight. It's bedtime.

Keep Your Fork!
There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in. Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.
'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly.
'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply.
'This is very important,' the young woman continued.
'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand."
The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.
"That surprises you, doesn't it?" the young woman asked.
'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor.
The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!
'So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?'
Then I want you to tell them: "Keep your fork the best is yet to come!"
The Pastor's eyes we filled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming. At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled. During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come. Show your friends how much you care. Remember to always be there for them, even when you need them more. For you never know when it may be their time to 'Keep your fork.' Cherish the time you have, and the memories you share . being friends with someone is not an opportunity but a sweet responsibility.
"And keep your fork"!

On to New Beginnings
As I was cleaning up the old apartment that my mom lived in for 20 years. It was a little bit sad to see it go. I lived there throughout my teenage years. Lots of good and some bad memories. As we cleaned out the attic on Saturday. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Found lots of old letters from friends, pictures, and an old passport from when I was 11 years old. I also found an old diary from when I was a 11 as well. It was fun looking in on the past. Remembering stuff that I have forgotten throughout the years.
As I read though my diary I was thinking to myself. Boy! my kids have so much of a different life then what I had as child. For the better of course. But, I also didn't need my diary to tell me that either.
I'm so proud of my mom though. She finally moved out of her tiny little apartment into a pretty spacious house. Finally no more bumping into people when visiting mom's house for holidays. I know we try to be a close family, but not that close. Seeing how her apartment size was probably 700 square feet. Hence the word tiny. Way to go Mom!

his confrence meet. Which is pretty good for your first
year.
Well I know I haven't blog in like forever. Well what have I been doing? Time just seems to be passing me by so fast. The only thing Roz has going right now is dance. That will end at the end of May. Today is my nephew Joel's birthday! Happy B-Day Joel. I have been engulfed in work and running around. When I'm not working I'm trying to find some me time. I guess that is sometimes hard to do when your a working mom huh! The balancing act.
I have some good news Rick has taken a different position at work. He will be the vacation replacement supervisor. Which means he will be on 1st shift most of time. He took this position 2 weeks ago. So now he can join the day of the living instead of night of the living. It's been great so far. You know he's been on 3rd shift for 10 years. It takes time getting use to him being around in the evening, and sharing the bed. He seems to like working on first shift; so that's all that matters. Well that is all for today. I need to finish cooking supper.
